Lightning Talks

What are Lightning Talks?

Lightning Talks are a selection of five-minute talks in one of the conference time slots. So you may be wondering "Why would I want to do a Lightning Talk?", well maybe you've never given a talk before, and you'd like to start small. Maybe you don't have much to say. Maybe you just want to ask a question, or invite people to help you with your project, or boast about something you did, or tell a short cautionary story. These things are all interesting and worth talking about, but there might not be enough to say about them to fill up thirty minutes.

You don't need to make slides, but if you do decide to make slides, keep them to a minimum, remember you only have 5 minutes!

Still having trouble picking a topic? Check out the YAPC Ligthning Talk pages to get some ideas.

Video Recording

Barbie is hoping to record the Lightning Talk session, with a view to publishing them online at some point after the conference. If you do not wish to be recorded, please let Barbie know before the session. However, note that all speakers have final veto on their presentations after the event, and only those with the backing of the speaker will be published.
